CVE-2021-25100: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The GiveWP WordPress plugin before version 2.17.3 contains a Reflected Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability (CVE-2021-25100). The vulnerability exists in the Donation Forms dashboard where the 's' parameter is not properly escaped before being output back in an attribute (WPScan).

The vulnerability is classified as a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issue with a CVSS score of 7.5 (High). It falls under the OWASP Top 10 category A7: Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and is identified as CWE-79. The vulnerability was discovered by ZhongFu Su(JrXnm) of Wuhan University (WPScan).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows attackers to inject malicious JavaScript code that executes in the context of other users' browsers when they access the affected Donation Forms dashboard. This could lead to theft of sensitive information or unauthorized actions performed on behalf of the victim (WPScan).

A proof of concept exists demonstrating the vulnerability by using the following URL pattern: https://example.com/wp-admin/edit.php?s="+style=animation-name:rotation+onanimationstart=alert(/XSS/)//&post_status=all&post_type=give_forms&action=-1&start-date&end-date&give-forms-goal-filter=any_goal_status&paged=1&action2=-1 (WPScan).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.17.3 of the GiveWP plugin. Users are strongly advised to update to this version or later to protect against this security issue (WPScan).
