JavaScript vulnerability analysis and mitigation

Cross Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in margox braft-editor version 2.3.8, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via the embed media feature (NVD, CVE).

The vulnerability exists in the embed media feature of braft-editor where the application fails to properly sanitize user input. The issue occurs specifically in braft-editor/src/renderers/atomics/Embed/index.jsx file, where dangerouslySetInnerHTML is used without proper input validation, allowing arbitrary HTML and JavaScript code execution (GitHub Issue). The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.1 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N (NVD).

The vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary web scripts inside a div embed media element, potentially leading to unauthorized code execution in the context of the user's browser. This could result in cookie theft, session hijacking, or other client-side attacks (GitHub Issue).

The vulnerability can be exploited by injecting crafted HTML elements through the media library toolbar's 'adding network resources' feature. An attacker can insert malicious script code that gets executed when the user interacts with the embedded media content (GitHub Issue).
