CVE-2021-34949: 
Foxit PDF Reader vulnerability analysis and mitigation

Foxit PDF Reader contains an out-of-bounds read information disclosure vulnerability (CVE-2021-34949) that was discovered in July 2021 and publicly disclosed on October 15, 2021. The vulnerability affects the handling of Annotation objects in Foxit PDF Reader and allows remote attackers to disclose sensitive information on affected installations (ZDI Advisory).

The vulnerability exists within the handling of Annotation objects and results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in a read past the end of an allocated object. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.0 base score of 3.3 (Low) with the vector: CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N (ZDI Advisory).

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to disclose sensitive information on affected installations of Foxit PDF Reader. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability in conjunction with other vulnerabilities to potentially execute arbitrary code in the context of the current process (ZDI Advisory).

User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability - the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The vulnerability requires local access with low attack complexity and no privileges required (ZDI Advisory).

Foxit has issued an update to correct this vulnerability. Users should update to the latest version of Foxit PDF Reader through the application's update mechanism or by downloading directly from the Foxit website (Foxit Security Bulletin).
