CVE-2022-0412 affects the TI WooCommerce Wishlist WordPress plugin versions before 1.40.1 and TI WooCommerce Wishlist Pro WordPress plugin versions before 1.40.1. The vulnerability was discovered and disclosed on January 29, 2022 (WordPress Changeset).

Technical details

The vulnerability is an unauthenticated Blind SQL Injection with a CVSS score of 8.6 (high). The issue exists because the plugins do not properly sanitize and escape the itemid parameter before using it in a SQL statement via the wishlist/removeproduct REST endpoint (WPScan).

Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to perform SQL injection attacks against the affected websites. SQL injection could potentially lead to unauthorized access to the database, data theft, or manipulation of database content (WPScan).

Mitigation and workarounds

The vulnerability was patched in version 1.40.1 of both the free and premium versions of the plugin. Users are strongly advised to update to this version or later to protect their installations (WordPress Changeset).
