CVE-2022-0503: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The WordPress Multisite Content Copier/Updater plugin versions before 2.1.2 contained a Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability, identified as CVE-2022-0503. The vulnerability was discovered on February 21, 2022, and affects the network dashboard of WordPress installations using this plugin (WPScan).

The vulnerability stems from improper sanitization and escaping of the 's' parameter before it is output back in an attribute within the network dashboard. The issue has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.1 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (NVD).

When exploited, this vulnerability could allow attackers to execute cross-site scripting attacks against users accessing the network dashboard. The attack requires user interaction and can potentially lead to the compromise of sensitive browser-based information or session tokens (NVD).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.1.2 of the WordPress Multisite Content Copier/Updater plugin. Users are advised to update to this version or later to mitigate the security risk (WPScan).
