CVE-2022-1455: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2022-1455 is a Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability discovered in the Call Now Button WordPress plugin versions before 1.1.2. The vulnerability was discovered by 7coo and ZhongFu Su(JrXnm) of Wuhan University and was publicly disclosed on April 25, 2022 (WPScan).

The vulnerability occurs when the premium version is enabled and stems from the plugin's failure to properly escape a parameter before outputting it back in an attribute of a hidden input. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS score of 3.4 (low) and is classified as CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (WPScan).

When exploited, this vulnerability could allow attackers to execute malicious JavaScript code in users' browsers when they visit a specially crafted URL. This could potentially lead to theft of sensitive information or manipulation of the web interface for users with administrative access (WPScan).

The vulnerability can be exploited by crafting a specific URL with malicious JavaScript code in the 'bid' parameter when accessing the plugin's admin page. A proof of concept exists: http://example.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=call-now-button&bid=xxxxx" accesskey=X onclick=alert(/XSS/) test=". The exploit requires the premium version of the plugin to be enabled (WPScan).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 1.1.2 of the Call Now Button plugin. Users are advised to update to this version or later to mitigate the risk (WPScan).
