CVE-2022-2470: 
PHP vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Cross-site Scripting (XSS) - Reflected vulnerability was discovered in GitHub repository microweber/microweber prior to version 1.2.21, identified as CVE-2022-2470. The vulnerability was reported and documented in July 2022 (CVE Details).

The vulnerability exists in the API controller and module manager components of the Microweber application. The issue stems from insufficient sanitization of user input in the module handling functionality, specifically in the data processing within the ApiController.php file. A fix was implemented by adding proper input sanitization through the xssclean function and introducing a new formatattr method for attribute handling (GitHub Commit).

The vulnerability could allow attackers to execute malicious scripts in the context of other users' browsers, potentially leading to theft of sensitive information, session hijacking, or other client-side attacks (Huntr).

The vulnerability was patched in version 1.2.21 of Microweber. Users should upgrade to this version or later to protect against this security issue. The fix includes implementation of proper input sanitization and attribute formatting (GitHub Commit).
