NixOS vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2022-26449 is a vulnerability discovered in MediaTek's apusys component. The vulnerability was disclosed in September 2022 and affects Android 12.0 systems running on MediaTek chipsets MT6879, MT6895, and MT6983. The issue stems from a possible out-of-bounds write condition due to a missing bounds check (MediaTek Bulletin).

The vulnerability is classified as a medium severity issue with a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.7 (MEDIUM). It is categorized under CWE-20 (Improper Input Validation). The technical root cause involves improper input validation in the apusys component that could lead to an out-of-bounds write condition due to missing bounds check functionality (NVD).

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to local escalation of privilege with System execution privileges. The vulnerability requires no user interaction for exploitation but does require System execution privileges to be exploited (MediaTek Bulletin).
