CVE-2022-26702: 
macOS vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2022-26702 is a use-after-free vulnerability that affects multiple Apple operating systems including iOS 15.5, iPadOS 15.5, tvOS 15.5, watchOS 8.6, and macOS Big Sur. The vulnerability was discovered by an anonymous researcher along with Antonio Zekic (@antoniozekic) and John Aakerblom (@jaakerblom), and was patched by Apple in May 2022 (Apple Support).

The vulnerability exists in the AppleAVD (Apple Audio/Video Decoder) component and allows an application to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges. The issue stems from a use-after-free condition that was addressed by Apple through improved memory management (Apple Support).

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow a malicious application to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges, effectively gaining complete control over the affected device (Apple Support).
