PHP vulnerability analysis and mitigation

An arbitrary file upload vulnerability was discovered in the Advertising Management module of Feehi CMS version 2.1.1. The vulnerability was assigned identifier CVE-2022-34971 and was disclosed on July 4, 2022. This security flaw affects the file upload functionality in the advertising management section of the content management system (MITRE CVE).

The vulnerability allows attackers to bypass file upload restrictions by modifying image file extensions to PHP. This bypass in the Advertising Management module enables uploading of malicious PHP files that can be used to execute arbitrary code on the affected system (Github Issue).

The vulnerability enables attackers to execute arbitrary code on the affected system through uploaded malicious PHP files. This could potentially lead to complete system compromise, allowing attackers to gain unauthorized access to sensitive data or take control of the web server (MITRE CVE).

Users should upgrade to a version newer than Feehi CMS v2.1.1 that addresses this vulnerability. Additionally, implementing proper file upload validation and restricting executable file uploads are recommended security measures (MITRE CVE).
