NixOS vulnerability analysis and mitigation

Improper authentication vulnerability in Samsung WindowManagerService prior to SMR Dec-2022 Release 1 was discovered, identified as CVE-2022-39899. The vulnerability affects select Samsung devices running Android versions 10 (Q), 11 (R), 12 (S), and 13 (T). This security issue was reported on August 14, 2022, and was privately disclosed (Samsung Mobile Security).

The vulnerability is classified as High severity and is related to improper authentication in the WindowManagerService component. The issue allows an attacker to send input events using S Pen gesture without proper authentication. The vulnerability is tracked under CWE-287 (Improper Authentication) classification (NVD CNA Status).

The vulnerability allows attackers to bypass authentication mechanisms and send unauthorized input events using S Pen gesture functionality. This could potentially lead to unauthorized control of the device through gesture commands (Samsung Mobile Security).
