CVE-2022-44591: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in the WordPress Anthologize plugin versions 0.8.0 and below, identified as CVE-2022-44591. The vulnerability was discovered by Hoang Van Hiep (sk4rl1ghT) and publicly disclosed on November 17, 2022. This security issue affects administrators and users with high privileges in WordPress installations using the Anthologize plugin (Patchstack, WPScan).

The vulnerability stems from the plugin's failure to properly sanitize and escape certain project parameters. This security flaw could be exploited even when the unfilteredhtml capability is disallowed, such as in multisite setups. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS score of 4.8 (Low severity) and is classified under OWASP Top 10 category A7: Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and CWE-79 (WPScan, [Patchstack](https://patchstack.com/database/vulnerability/anthologize/wordpress-anthologize-plugin-0-8-0-auth-stored-cross-site-scripting-xss-vulnerability?s_id=cve)).

The vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when guests visit the affected site. However, the impact is considered low severity due to the requirement of high-privilege user access for exploitation (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 0.8.1 of the Anthologize plugin. Website administrators are advised to update to version 0.8.1 or later to remove the vulnerability. For Patchstack users, enabling auto-update for vulnerable plugins is recommended as an additional security measure (Patchstack).
