CVE-2022-4556: 
NixOS vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in Alinto SOGo versions up to 5.7.1, identified as CVE-2022-4556. The vulnerability affects the _migrateMailIdentities function within the Identity Handler component, specifically in the file SoObjects/SOGo/SOGoUserDefaults.m. The issue was disclosed on December 16, 2022 (NVD).

The vulnerability stems from improper neutralization in the _migrateMailIdentities function where the manipulation of the fullName argument could lead to cross-site scripting. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.1 (MEDIUM) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N (NVD).

The vulnerability allows remote attackers to potentially inject malicious scripts through the fullName parameter, which could lead to the execution of unauthorized code in the context of other users' browsers. This could result in theft of sensitive information or unauthorized actions performed on behalf of the victim (NVD).

The vulnerability has been fixed in SOGo version 5.8.0. The patch (efac49ae91a4a325df9931e78e543f707a0f8e5e) implements XSS protection on identity fullName. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 5.8.0 or later to address this security issue (GitHub Patch, GitHub Release).
