CVE-2024-49126 is a Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in the Windows Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS). The vulnerability was disclosed in December 2024 and affects multiple versions of Microsoft Windows, including Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server systems (Arctic Wolf).

The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 8.1 and allows an attacker to exploit a race condition through a network call, targeting server accounts for remote code execution in the context of the server's account. The vulnerability requires no privileges or user interaction for exploitation (Rapid7).

If successfully exploited, this vulnerability allows an attacker to execute arbitrary code within the context of the server's account through the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS), potentially compromising the security of the affected system (Arctic Wolf).

Microsoft has released security updates to address this vulnerability. The patches are available through the December 2024 security update for affected systems including Windows 10, Windows 11, and various versions of Windows Server.
