The vulnerability exists in the fslqspiprobe function within the drivers/spi/spi-fsl-qspi.c file. When platformgetresource_byname() returns NULL, the code continues execution without proper validation, potentially leading to a null pointer dereference. If exploited, this vulnerability could cause a kernel crash due to the null pointer dereference, resulting in a denial of service condition on affected systems (Kernel Git).

The issue has been fixed by adding proper return value checking after the platformgetresource_byname() call. The fix was committed to the Linux kernel with commit a2b331ac11e1cac56f5b7d367e9f3c5796deaaed. Users should update to a patched kernel version that includes this fix (Kernel Git).
