CVE-2023-2333: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2023-2333 is a Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability discovered in the Ninja Forms Google Sheet Connector WordPress plugin. The vulnerability was publicly disclosed on June 12, 2023, affecting versions below 1.2.7 of gsheetconnector-ninja-forms and versions below 1.5.2 of gsheetconnector-ninja-forms-pro (WPScan).

The vulnerability occurs because the plugin fails to properly escape a parameter before outputting it back in an attribute, which enables a Reflected Cross-Site Scripting attack. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS score of 7.1 (High) and is classified under CWE-79. It falls under the OWASP Top 10 category A7: Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) (WPScan).

This vulnerability could be exploited against high-privilege users such as administrators. When successfully exploited, it allows attackers to execute malicious JavaScript code in the context of the targeted user's browser session (WPScan).

A proof of concept exists where an attacker can craft a malicious URL targeting the admin interface at 'wp-admin/admin.php?page=njform-google-sheet-config' with a specially crafted 'code' parameter to trigger the XSS payload (WPScan).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 1.2.7 of gsheetconnector-ninja-forms and version 1.5.2 of gsheetconnector-ninja-forms-pro. Users are advised to update to these or later versions to mitigate the vulnerability (WPScan).
