CVE-2023-23654: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in the WordPress SparkPost plugin versions 3.2.5 and earlier. The vulnerability was identified on January 11, 2023, and publicly disclosed on April 19, 2023. This security issue affects authenticated users with administrator or higher privileges (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 4.8 (Medium) by NIST with a vector string of CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N, while Patchstack assessed it with a slightly higher score of 5.9 (Medium). The vulnerability is classified under CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) (NVD).

The vulnerability could allow a malicious actor with administrative access to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when guests visit the affected site (Patchstack).

The vulnerability requires an authenticated user with administrator or higher privileges to exploit, which significantly reduces its risk profile. The security issue has been classified as having a low severity impact and is considered unlikely to be exploited (Patchstack).
