Overview

Auth. (admin+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in Formilla Live Chat by Formilla WordPress plugin versions 1.3 and below. The vulnerability was reported on January 17, 2023, and was assigned CVE-2023-23727. The issue was fixed in version 1.3.1 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) (NVD).

Impact

This vulnerability could allow a malicious actor to inject malicious scripts, such as redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website which will be executed when guests visit the site. However, the security issue has been classified as having a low severity impact and is considered unlikely to be exploited (Patchstack).

Mitigation and workarounds

Users are advised to update to version 1.3.1 or later of the Formilla Live Chat plugin to remove the vulnerability. Patchstack users can enable auto-update for vulnerable plugins as an additional security measure (Patchstack).
