CVE-2023-25022: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The vulnerability (CVE-2023-25022) is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting Kiboko Labs Watu Quiz WordPress plugin versions 3.3.8 and below. The vulnerability was discovered on February 3, 2023, and requires administrator-level privileges to exploit (Patchstack, WPScan).

The vulnerability stems from improper sanitization and escaping of the gtitle parameter, which could allow high-privilege users such as administrators to perform Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks even when the unfiltered_html capability is disallowed, particularly in multisite setups. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 4.8 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N, indicating network accessibility with high privileges required (NVD).

The vulnerability could allow malicious actors with administrative access to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website, which would be executed when visitors access the affected pages (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 3.3.8.1 of the Watu Quiz plugin. Site administrators are advised to update to version 3.3.8.1 or later to remove the vulnerability (WPScan, Patchstack).
