NixOS vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A vulnerability identified as CVE-2023-33285 was discovered in Qt versions 5.x before 5.15.14, 6.x before 6.2.9, and 6.3.x through 6.5.x before 6.5.1. The vulnerability was discovered in May 2023 and affects the QDnsLookup component (NVD, CVE).

The vulnerability can be exploited remotely by sending specially crafted DNS server replies to applications using the affected QDnsLookup component. No authentication is required to exploit this vulnerability, making it accessible to network-based attackers (NVD).

The vulnerability has been fixed in Qt versions 5.15.14, 6.2.9, and 6.5.1. Users are advised to upgrade to these or later versions. Various Linux distributions have also released security updates to address this vulnerability (Debian LTS).
