CVE-2023-34003: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The vulnerability (CVE-2023-34003) affects the WooCommerce Box Office WordPress plugin versions 1.1.51 and below. It was discovered by Rafie Muhammad and publicly disclosed on June 2, 2023. The vulnerability is classified as a Missing Authorization/Broken Access Control issue that allows unauthenticated users to modify ticket barcodes (WPScan, Patchstack).

The vulnerability stems from the absence of proper authorization controls and CSRF protection when updating ticket barcodes. It has been assigned a CVSS score of 5.3 (medium) and is categorized under OWASP Top 10 A5: Broken Access Control and CWE-862. The vulnerability can be exploited through the WordPress admin-ajax.php endpoint (WPScan).

The vulnerability allows unauthenticated users to modify ticket barcodes in the WooCommerce Box Office system, potentially compromising the integrity of ticket data and affecting the ticket verification process (Patchstack).

The vulnerability can be exploited by sending a specially crafted HTTP request to the WordPress admin-ajax.php endpoint with parameters including action=save_ticket_barcode, ticket_barcode_image, ticket_barcode_text, and ticket_id. No authentication is required to perform this action (WPScan).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 1.1.52 of the WooCommerce Box Office plugin. Users are advised to update to this version or later to resolve the security issue. Patchstack has also issued a virtual patch to mitigate this vulnerability by blocking potential attacks until users can update to the fixed version (Patchstack).
