CVE-2023-47620: 
JavaScript vulnerability analysis and mitigation

Scrypted, a home video integration and automation platform, was found to contain a reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability identified as CVE-2023-47620. The vulnerability affects versions 0.55.0 and prior, specifically in the plugin-http.ts file through the 'owner' and 'pkg' parameters, allowing attackers to execute arbitrary JavaScript code (GitHub Advisory, NVD).

The vulnerability exists in the plugin-http.ts file where the 'owner' and 'pkg' parameters are reflected back in the response when an endpoint is not found. The issue has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 6.1 (MEDIUM) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (NVD).

The vulnerability could lead to Remote Code Execution (RCE). An attacker can create specially crafted links that, when clicked by users, allow the attacker to impersonate them. In the most severe scenario, if an administrator clicks a malicious link, the attacker could potentially execute arbitrary commands with administrative privileges (GitHub Advisory).

The vulnerability can be exploited by creating a specially crafted URL that injects a script tag into the current document. This script can then be used to communicate with the server over HTTP via RPC and potentially execute shell commands. A proof of concept demonstrates that attackers can load arbitrary JavaScript from external domains through carefully constructed URLs (GitHub Advisory).

As of the initial disclosure, no known patches were available for this vulnerability (NVD).
