CVE-2023-47680: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in the Qode Interactive Qi Addons For Elementor WordPress plugin, affecting versions 1.6.4 and below. The vulnerability was identified on June 20, 2023, and publicly disclosed on November 9, 2023. This security issue, tracked as CVE-2023-47680, affects users with contributor-level privileges and above (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issue under CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation). The plugin fails to properly validate and escape certain parameters, enabling authenticated users to perform stored XSS attacks. The vulnerability has received a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.5 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L (NVD, WPScan).

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when guests visit the affected site (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 1.6.5 of the Qi Addons For Elementor plugin. Users are advised to update to version 1.6.5 or later to remove the vulnerability. Patchstack users have the option to enable auto-update for vulnerable plugins (Patchstack).
