CVE-2023-49172: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in BrainCert – HTML5 Virtual Classroom WordPress plugin versions up to 1.30. The vulnerability was identified and disclosed on November 29, 2023, and was assigned CVE-2023-49172. This security issue affects the BrainCert – HTML5 Virtual Classroom plugin, a WordPress integration for virtual classroom functionality (Patchstack Advisory).

The vulnerability is classified as a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issue, specifically of the reflected type, and is categorized under CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation). Users are advised to update to version 2.2 or later of the BrainCert – HTML5 Virtual Classroom plugin to resolve the vulnerability. For temporary mitigation, Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to protect against potential attacks until users can update to the fixed version (Patchstack Advisory).
