CVE-2023-50841: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A SQL Injection vulnerability (CVE-2023-50841) was discovered in the BookingPress – Appointment Booking Calendar Plugin and Online Scheduling Plugin for WordPress, affecting versions up to 1.0.72. The vulnerability was reported by Ngô Thiên An (ancorn_) from VNPT-VCI on September 27, 2023, and was publicly disclosed on December 21, 2023 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as an Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command ('SQL Injection') with a CVSS v3.1 base score of 8.8 (HIGH) according to NVD, and 8.5 (HIGH) according to Patchstack. The CVSS vector string is CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H, indicating network accessibility, low attack complexity, and requiring low privileges. The vulnerability is tracked as CWE-89 (NVD).

The SQL injection vulnerability could allow a malicious actor with contributor-level access or higher to directly interact with the database. This could potentially lead to unauthorized access to sensitive information, data manipulation, and possible database compromise (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 1.0.73 of the BookingPress plugin. Users are advised to update to this version or later immediately. Additionally, Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to mitigate this issue by blocking potential attacks until users can update to the fixed version (Patchstack).
