CVE-2023-51509: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in Metagauss RegistrationMagic – Custom Registration Forms, User Registration, Payment, and User Login WordPress plugin affecting versions up to and including 5.2.4.1. The vulnerability was disclosed on December 27, 2023, and was assigned CVE-2023-51509 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as an Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (Cross-site Scripting) issue. It received a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.1 (MEDIUM) from NIST with vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N, while Patchstack assigned it a higher CVSS score of 7.1 (HIGH) with vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L (NVD).

The vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website which would be executed when visitors access the site (Patchstack).

Users are advised to update to version 5.2.4.2 or later to resolve the vulnerability. Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to mitigate this issue by blocking any attacks until users update to a fixed version (Patchstack).
