CVE-2023-52133: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

An SQL Injection vulnerability (CVE-2023-52133) was discovered in WhileTrue Most And Least Read Posts Widget WordPress plugin, affecting versions up to 2.5.16. The vulnerability was reported by Muhammad Daffa on October 25, 2023, and was publicly disclosed on December 28, 2023 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as an Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an SQL Command (SQL Injection) with CWE-89. It received a CVSS v3.1 base score of 8.8 (HIGH) from NIST with vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H, while Patchstack assigned a score of 8.5 (HIGH) with vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:L (NVD).

This SQL Injection vulnerability could allow a malicious actor to directly interact with the database, potentially leading to unauthorized access to sensitive information. The vulnerability has a high severity impact due to its potential for compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.5.17 of the Most And Least Read Posts Widget plugin. Users are advised to update to version 2.5.17 or later to remove the vulnerability. Patchstack users can enable auto-update for vulnerable plugins as an additional security measure (Patchstack).
