CVE-2023-6776: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The 3D FlipBook plugin for WordPress (CVE-2023-6776) contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability in the 'Ready Function' field that affects all versions up to and including 1.15.2. The vulnerability was disclosed on January 11, 2024, and impacts the WordPress plugin interactive-3d-flipbook-powered-physics-engine (NVD, WPScan).

The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the 'Ready Function' field. The issue has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 5.4 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (NVD).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the compromised page, potentially leading to data theft, session hijacking, or other malicious actions (NVD).

Users are advised to update to version 1.15.3 or later of the 3D FlipBook plugin, which contains patches for this vulnerability. The fix was implemented through changes in the plugin's codebase to properly sanitize and escape the 'Ready Function' field input (Wordpress Patch).
