CVE-2024-0659: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The Easy Digital Downloads – Sell Digital Files (eCommerce Store & Payments Made Easy) plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability (CVE-2024-0659) that affects all versions up to and including 3.2.6. The vulnerability was discovered and reported by Wordfence, with the initial disclosure on February 5, 2024 (NVD).

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the variable pricing option title. This security flaw has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 4.8 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (NVD).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with shop manager-level access to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the compromised page (NVD).

Users are advised to update to version 3.2.7 or later of the Easy Digital Downloads plugin, which contains the fix for this vulnerability (WordPress Patch).
