CVE-2024-11333: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The HLS Player plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability (CVE-2024-11333) that affects all versions up to and including 1.0.10. The vulnerability was discovered and disclosed on November 28, 2024. The issue exists in the plugin's 'hls_player' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes (NVD).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 6.4 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The technical root cause is identified as CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (Cross-site Scripting) (NVD, Wordfence).

The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the compromised page, potentially leading to unauthorized access to user data and manipulation of website content (NVD).

A patch has been released in version 1.0.11 of the HLS Player plugin. Website administrators are advised to update to this latest version to mitigate the vulnerability (WordPress Plugin).
