IrfanView vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2024-11548 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting IrfanView software. The vulnerability was discovered and disclosed on November 21st, 2024. It affects IrfanView installations, specifically version 4.67 for both x64 and x86 architectures (ZDI Advisory).

The vulnerability exists within the parsing of DWG files and stems from improper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in an out-of-bounds write past the end of an allocated buffer.
