WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The CRM Perks – WordPress HelpDesk Integration plugin for WordPress (versions up to 1.1.6) contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability via the plugin's 'crm-perks-tickets' shortcode. The vulnerability was discovered and disclosed on December 16, 2024, and affects the integration functionality for Zendesk, Freshdesk, and HelpScout services (NVD).

The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the 'crm-perks-tickets' shortcode. The issue has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 6.4 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. When exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages.
