CVE-2024-12519: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The TCBD Auto Refresher plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability (CVE-2024-12519) discovered in versions up to and including 2.0. The vulnerability was publicly disclosed on January 10, 2025, and the plugin has been temporarily closed pending a full security review (WordPress Plugin, NVD).

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the plugin's 'tcbd_auto_refresh' shortcode. The CVSS v3.1 base score is 6.4 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) (Wordfence).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the compromised page (NVD).

The vulnerability requires an authenticated user with at least contributor-level privileges to exploit. The attack complexity is considered low, requiring no special conditions or circumstances for exploitation (Wordfence).

As of January 10, 2025, the plugin has been temporarily closed and is not available for download pending a full security review. Users are advised to disable and remove the plugin until a patched version becomes available (WordPress Plugin).
