CVE-2024-13517: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The Easy Digital Downloads WordPress plugin (versions up to 3.3.2) contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability (CVE-2024-13517) discovered in January 2025. The vulnerability affects the Title value field and is specifically present in multi-site installations and installations where unfiltered_html has been disabled (NVD).

The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) and has received a CVSS v3.1 base score of 4.0 (Medium) from NIST and 4.4 (Medium) from Wordfence. The technical issue stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the Title value field (NVD, Wordfence).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with administrator-level access to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the compromised page, potentially affecting all visitors to the affected pages (NVD).
