WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The JS Help Desk – The Ultimate Help Desk & Support Plugin for WordPress (CVE-2024-13606) is a sensitive information exposure vulnerability affecting all versions up to and including 2.8.8. The vulnerability was discovered by Tim Coen and was publicly disclosed on February 13, 2025 (NVD, Wordfence).

The vulnerability exists in the 'jssupportticketdata' directory implementation, allowing unauthenticated attackers to access sensitive data stored in the /wp-content/uploads/jssupportticketdata directory. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 7.5 (High) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N, indicating network accessibility, low attack complexity, and no required privileges or user interaction (NVD).

The vulnerability allows unauthorized access to file attachments included in support tickets that are stored in the affected directory. This could lead to the exposure of sensitive customer information, support communications, and any confidential files that may have been attached to support tickets (NVD).
