WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The CRM and Lead Management by vcita plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in versions up to 2.7.4. The vulnerability exists in the plugin's 'vCitaMeetingScheduler' and 'vCitaSchedulingCalendar' shortcodes due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes (NVD).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.4 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The issue stems from improper neutralization of input during web page generation, classified as CWE-79 (NVD).

This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the compromised page (NVD).

The vulnerability requires an authenticated user with at least contributor-level privileges to exploit. The attack complexity is considered low, requiring no user interaction for successful exploitation (NVD).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 2.7.5 of the plugin. Users are advised to update to this version or later to protect against potential exploitation (Wordpress Plugin).
