CVE-2024-2079: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The WPBakery Page Builder Addons by Livemesh plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability (CVE-2024-2079) affecting all versions up to and including 3.8.1. The vulnerability exists in the plugin's 'per_line_mobile' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes (NVD).

The vulnerability stems from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping mechanisms for user-supplied attributes in the 'per_line_mobile' shortcode. The issue has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.4 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N (Wordfence).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the compromised page (NVD).

The vulnerability requires an authenticated user with at least contributor-level permissions to exploit. The attacker must have the ability to create or edit content using the affected shortcode (NVD).

Users should update to a version newer than 3.8.1 if available. The vulnerability has been addressed through a patch that improves input sanitization and output escaping for the affected shortcode (WordPress Plugin).
