CVE-2024-2124: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The Translate WordPress and go Multilingual – Weglot plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability (CVE-2024-2124) affecting all versions up to and including 4.2.5. The vulnerability was discovered and disclosed on March 20, 2024, impacting the plugin's widget/block functionality (NVD).

The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes, specifically the 'className' parameter in the plugin's widget/block component. The issue has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.4 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N (Wordfence).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the compromised page (NVD).

The vulnerability requires an authenticated user with at least contributor-level privileges to exploit. The attack vector is network-accessible, requires low attack complexity, and needs no user interaction for successful exploitation (Wordfence).
