CVE-2024-24113
Java vulnerability analysis and mitigation

Overview

XXL-job versions 2.4.1 and below contain a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability that allows low-privileged users to control executors leading to Remote Code Execution (RCE). The vulnerability was discovered and disclosed on January 11, 2024, affecting all versions up to and including 2.4.1 of the XXL-job distributed task scheduling platform (GitHub Issue).

Technical details

The vulnerability exists in the /trigger endpoint within xxl-job-2.4.1/xxl-job-admin/src/main/java/com/xxl/job/admin/controller/JobInfoController.java. The flaw occurs because the system fails to validate whether the addressList parameter contains a valid executor address before sending requests. This vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 8.8 (HIGH) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H (NVD).

Impact

The vulnerability allows attackers with low-privilege user accounts to execute arbitrary commands on any executor by obtaining the XXL-JOB-ACCESS-TOKEN. This can lead to complete system compromise through remote code execution capabilities (GitHub Issue).
