CVE-2024-2469: 
GitHub Enterprise Server vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2024-2469 is a high-severity vulnerability in GitHub Enterprise Server that affects versions 3.8.0 and above. The vulnerability was discovered and reported through the GitHub Bug Bounty program and was fixed in versions 3.8.17, 3.9.12, 3.10.9, 3.11.7, and 3.12.1. An attacker with an Administrator role could gain SSH root access via remote code execution (GitHub Release Notes).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 8.0 (HIGH) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H. This indicates that the vulnerability requires network access, has high attack complexity, requires high privileges, needs no user interaction, and can have high impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability (NVD).

If successfully exploited, an attacker with Administrator privileges could gain SSH root access to the GitHub Enterprise Server instance, potentially leading to complete system compromise (GitHub Release Notes).

The vulnerability requires an attacker to already have Administrator role privileges in the GitHub Enterprise Server instance. While this prerequisite limits the potential attackers, the vulnerability can be exploited remotely over the network (NVD).

Organizations should immediately upgrade their GitHub Enterprise Server installations to the following fixed versions: 3.8.17, 3.9.12, 3.10.9, 3.11.7, or 3.12.1, depending on their current version (GitHub Release Notes).
