WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The ProfilePress plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability (CVE-2024-2861) that affects all versions up to 4.15.8. This vulnerability was discovered and publicly disclosed on May 22, 2024, with the last update being May 23, 2024 (Wordfence Intel).

The vulnerability exists in the ProfilePress User Panel widget and has been assigned a CVSS score of 6.4 (Medium). The issue allows authenticated users with Contributor level permissions or higher to perform stored cross-site scripting attacks (Wordfence Intel).
