CVE-2024-29127: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in AAM Advanced Access Manager WordPress plugin, affecting versions through 6.9.20. The vulnerability was identified and reported by Rafie Muhammad on January 15, 2024, and was assigned CVE-2024-29127. The issue stems from improper neutralization of input during web page generation (Patchstack).

The vulnerability occurs due to insufficient sanitization and escaping of a parameter before it is output back in the page. This allows for Reflected Cross-Site Scripting attacks that could be used against high-privilege users such as administrators. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 7.1 (High) by Patchstack and 6.1 (Medium) by NVD, with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N (WPScan, Patchstack).

The vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website, which would be executed when users visit the site. The vulnerability has been fixed in version 6.9.21 of the Advanced Access Manager plugin. Users are advised to update to this version or later immediately. For users unable to update immediately, Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to mitigate this issue by blocking any attacks until the update can be performed (Patchstack).
