Symfony vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A security vulnerability (CVE-2024-36611) was identified in Symfony's FormLoginAuthenticator component in version 7.0.7. The vulnerability relates to inadequate handling of cases where the username or password field of a login request is empty (GitHub Gist).

The vulnerability exists in the FormLoginAuthenticator component where it failed to properly validate empty username or password fields during login attempts. The issue was addressed in a security patch that adds explicit validation to reject empty credentials with a Bad Request (400) response (Symfony Commit).
