CVE-2024-37267: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in the WordPress Striking theme, affecting versions up to 2.3.4. The vulnerability was reported on May 12, 2024, by Rafie Muhammad and publicly disclosed on June 27, 2024 (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) and has received varying CVSS v3.1 scores: NIST rates it as 6.1 MEDIUM (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N), while Patchstack assigns it a score of 7.1 HIGH (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L). The vulnerability allows for reflected XSS attacks and requires user interaction to be exploited (NVD).

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when guests visit the affected site (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.3.5 of the Striking theme. Users are advised to update to version 2.3.5 or later immediately. Additionally, Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to mitigate this issue by blocking potential attacks until users can update to the fixed version (Patchstack).
