CVE-2024-38361: 
NixOS vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A vulnerability has been identified in SpiceDB, an open-source database for storing and querying fine-grained authorization data. The vulnerability (CVE-2024-38361) was discovered and disclosed on June 20, 2024. The issue occurs when the CheckPermission API incorrectly returns NO_PERMISSION when PERMISSION should be expected, specifically in cases involving exclusions under arrows with multiple resources (GitHub Advisory).

The vulnerability manifests when a resource exists under multiple folders and a user has access to view more than a single folder. The root cause is a failure in the exclusion dispatcher to request all the folders in which the user is a member. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 3.7 (Low) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N, indicating network accessibility with high attack complexity, no privileges required, and no user interaction needed (GitHub Advisory).

The primary impact of this vulnerability is that it can cause incorrect permission denials in the authorization system.
