Overview

The Click to Chat – HoliThemes plugin for WordPress (CVE-2024-3849) contains a Local File Inclusion vulnerability affecting all versions up to and including 3.35. The vulnerability was discovered and disclosed on May 2, 2024 (NVD).

Technical details

The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor access or higher to include and execute arbitrary files on the server. This enables the execution of any PHP code contained within those files. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 8.8 (High) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H (Wordfence).

Impact

The vulnerability can be exploited to bypass access controls, obtain sensitive data, and achieve code execution, particularly in cases where images and other 'safe' file types can be uploaded and included on the server (NVD).
