CVE-2024-4761 is a high-severity vulnerability discovered in Google Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine. The vulnerability was reported anonymously on May 9, 2024, and affects versions of Chrome prior to 124.0.6367.207. This out-of-bounds write vulnerability could allow a remote attacker to perform an out-of-bounds memory write via a crafted HTML page (NVD, Chrome Releases).

Google has confirmed that an exploit for CVE-2024-4761 exists in the wild and is being actively exploited. The vulnerability has been added to CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) Catalog, indicating its active exploitation in real-world attacks (NVD, Chrome Releases).

Google has released patches to address this vulnerability in Chrome version 124.0.6367.207/.208 for Windows and macOS, and version 124.0.6367.207 for Linux. Users are strongly advised to update their browsers immediately to these versions or later.
