CVE-2024-6317: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The Generate PDF using Contact Form 7 WordPress plugin contains a Cross-Site Request Forgery vulnerability (CVE-2024-6317) affecting versions up to and including 4.0.6. The vulnerability was discovered by István Márton from Wordfence and was publicly disclosed on July 8, 2024 (Wordfence Intel).

The vulnerability stems from missing nonce validation and improper file path validation in the 'wp_cf7_pdf_dashboard_html_page' function. The CVSS v3.1 score is 8.8 (High) with the following vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H (NVD).

This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to delete arbitrary files on the affected system, including critical files such as wp-config.php. The successful exploitation could lead to site takeover and potential remote code execution (NVD).

The vulnerability can be exploited by tricking a site administrator into performing an action, such as clicking on a malicious link. The attack requires user interaction but can be executed by an unauthenticated attacker (Wordfence Intel).
