CVE-2024-6521: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The Contact Form Plugin by Fluent Forms for Quiz, Survey, and Drag & Drop WP Form Builder plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in versions up to and including 5.1.19. The vulnerability was discovered in July 2024 and was assigned CVE-2024-6521 (NVD, Patchstack).

The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the plugin. This security flaw has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 4.8 (Medium) with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-79: Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation (NVD).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with Administrator-level access to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page, potentially compromising the security of site visitors (NVD).

The vulnerability requires an authenticated attacker with Administrator-level privileges to exploit. While this limits the potential attack surface, it still poses a significant risk if administrator accounts are compromised (NVD).

The vulnerability has been patched in version 5.1.20 of the plugin. Site administrators are strongly advised to update to this version or later to protect against potential attacks (WordPress Plugin).
