CVE-2025-1681: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The Cardealer theme for WordPress contains a security vulnerability (CVE-2025-1681) discovered in versions up to and including 1.6.4. The vulnerability stems from missing capability checks and filename sanitization on the demo theme scheme AJAX functions. This issue was publicly disclosed on February 27, 2025 (NVD).

The vulnerability is classified as a missing authorization issue (CWE-862) with a CVSS v3.1 base score of 5.4 (Medium). The vulnerability affects the demo theme scheme AJAX functions, where both capability checks and filename sanitization are absent. This security weakness allows authenticated users with subscriber-level privileges or higher to perform unauthorized actions (Wordfence).

The vulnerability enables authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access or higher to modify or delete arbitrary CSS and JS files on the affected WordPress sites. This could lead to unauthorized modification of data and potential loss of data (NVD).

The vulnerability was addressed in version 1.6.5 of the Cardealer theme, released on January 26, 2025. Users are advised to update to this version or later to protect against this vulnerability (Theme Changelog).
